Enjoyed your site very much. FYI: North & South magazine will publish an article on
Isaac Stevens in an upcoming issue (either vol. 4, #7 or vol. 5, #1). It's very well
done--by Patrick Brennan, author of a terrific book on the Battle of
Secessionville,
S.C.--and contains information on his death at Chantilly. Keep an eye out for it.

The Curse of the 28th Mass? In Prince William County (VA), developers are hard at work
destroying Bristoe Station Battlefield, where the 28th Mass also fought. And of course,
almost -0- is left of the Fredericksburg field where they charged and died. It seems like
this great Irish regiment has passed a curse on down to us!

Thank You! I enjoyed your website very much. It is truly amazing that a battle site
that saved the Union could be bulldozed for the sake of "progress." I didn't
know that this battle had taken place until I found your site! I learned something today
and I have you to thank.

I am glad that someone has put together a site designated to the "hollowed
grounds" of Ox Hill and the camps around the old Payne farm in Centreville where the
graves were discovered. I have spent quite a lot of time relic hunting both the old
battlefield and the Louisiana camp on old Centreville Road. My pelican buttons, plates,
and bullets fired in anger from these sites lay in seperate display cases as a tribute to
these memorable areas. It is a shame that there is no longer a site to visit for future
historians other than a 1/4 acre park and a McDonalds. My handful of relics along with a
map up on my wall is how I salute these soldiers and their "hallowed ground."
