To all the unknown Americans who fought and died for the ideals that this country was founded on... we give "A Last Salute".

I was very distressed to learn of the horrible manner in which our war dead were treated at Ox Hill. Whether an American fought and died here or overseas, in any war or conflict - we must not forget they made the ultimate sacrifice. I find it pathetic that later generations would not sacrifice one tiny bit of ground so that these soldiers - Union and Confederate - could rest in peace. Next thing you know Arlington Cemetery will be sold off to make way for yet another stip mall and McDonald's. Or maybe Disney will put a theme park there!

My 2nd great grandfather was wounded at Chantilly. He fought under Colonel Trimble. This website's detail of the battle has increased my pride of my ancestor's resolve to survive the war which he did.

I'm amazed that anyone lived after so fierce a battle along with all the other encounters he had to endure.

Thanks for hosting this site. It is appreciated. May it remain forever.

Mar 12, 2000 Today I went with my dog Scooby to visit the Ox Hill Battlefield. How sad that this battlefield is only marked by one interpretive map, and monuments to Kearney, and Stevens. Your site has been a great help in teaching me about how fierce a battle Ox Hill was, and a reminder that the fight to preserve hallowed ground must remain strong.

thanks to those people that we will never know their names, they were americans, confederate or yankee, people are beginning to forget, or they don't care and thats why they built those townhomes and to make a buck, but those of us who do know and do care should fight them, or they will erase all of our history or change it to suite them,

What an interesting Site!! I am an avid reader of Civil War history. It is unfortunate that the Chantilly/Ox Hill site was destroyed. I only hope that other Civil war sites do not suffer the same fate.

Sincerely James Hobgood
