Pictured below is a Confederate
sketch drawn 4 months after the battle by
Stonewall Jackson's Topographical Engineer... Jed Hotchkiss. This gifted
mapmaker from Augusta County, Va. helped Jackson navigate
the back roads and rolling hills of Virginia's countryside. Armed with
such detailed information, Jackson was able to outmaneuver
much larger Union forces.
